Modernization Report to Community

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is committed to providing our 42,000+ students with a 21st century education. While our students excel in the classroom, our aging facilities have required critical repairs in recent years. Our Board of Education and community members have long supported modernization initiatives.

Measure A

In 2010, 63.8% of GGUSD voters approved Measure A, the district’s first bond measure to fund the initial phase of critical safety and infrastructure repairs, including plumbing and electrical systems, computer network systems, improvements for individuals with disabilities, fire alarms, security features, and communication systems. GGUSD used $250 million in Measure A funds to leverage approximately $300 million in state and $30 million in federal matching funds to upgrade schools at no additional cost to local taxpayers.

Measure P

In 2016, 76.3% of GGUSD voters approved Measure P to provide funding for air-conditioning (a/c) in schools without a/c, building seismic and safety upgrades, athletic facilities, and classroom improvements to support 21st century instruction.
