Online Summer Resources

2024 Online Summer Resources for Students and Parents

Summer, 2024

Dear Parents,
As parents, we always want to help our children during the summer months to get a head start on the upcoming school year.

In order to support student learning this summer, GGUSD has put together a variety of online resources for students from kindergarten to 12th grade in one convenient location. The variety of online resources will help your students stay on track with their learning, and to be ready for the new school year. Additionally, we have provided links with parent resources connecting you to information about academic, wellness, and community resources.

We encourage all students to continue practicing their Math by reinforcing what they already know and getting a preview of what is to come in their upcoming grade. The links below provide access to the textbooks that your child will be using in the coming school year. Students can also use their own log-in from this school year to access their textbooks:

We suggest students continue reading daily for at least 30 to 40 minutes during summer. Below are suggested reading lists for students by grade level. We recommend visits to the public library during summer and have provided the locations for the Public Libraries within Orange County.

Reading Lists for Grades K-12: https://ocpl.org/kids/read/book-lists

OC Public Library Locations: https://ocpl.org/libraries

During the summer months, we suggest you continue to minimize television viewing (unless it is educational) and have your child write in a journal every day to keep his/her writing skills sharp for the upcoming year. Have your child write letters to family members in different states or countries, express his or her feelings, write stories or poems and even summaries of the books s/he is reading. Writing is a muscle that we want to make sure stays strong during summer and is ready for school in the Fall.

In addition to the resources above, we have a list of websites that make summer learning fun.

IXL (Grades Pre-K-12)

IXL provides practice math and language arts problems that feel like play for Pre-K to 12th graders.
