February 2025 Employees of the Month
GGUSD’s Employee of the Month program is designed to recognize employees who: put others first; go above and beyond to make a difference in their role; carry out each day with a positive attitude and strong work ethic and demonstrate innovation, leadership, and passion for their job.
John Miller
Certificated Employee of the Month
John joined the district in 2001 having served as an instrumental, music, dance, p.e. band, orchestra and piano teacher at Bolsa Grande High School. Since 2008, he has served as the marching band, orchestra piano and instrumental music teacher at Bolsa Grande. John was nominated by several students and parents who said he is extremely dedicated and passionate about his students. He works tirelessly putting in long hours to make the Marching Matadors Band a success. He builds the band props by hand and helps raise funds to ensure students have the best experiences possible. One student shared that Mr. Miller led the band to the State Championship and students did the best they’ve ever done, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Students say that Mr. Miller inspires them to do their best both in music and in their education. He is known to be extremely hard-working and his connections with students motivates them to continue reaching new heights. Most of all, his students love and respect him and are grateful for all of his support.
Anita Garcia
Classified Employee of the Month
Anita joined the district in 2018 serving as a substitute Student Supervision Assistant at Eisenhower and a Substitute Clerk for Interpretation. In 2021, she began serving as a Student Supervision Assistant at Eisenhower, followed by a Library Media Technician I. Then in 2023, she began serving as a bilingual Spanish Community Liaison at Eisenhower and then transferred to Clinton Elementary School where she currently serves. Anita was recommended by parents who said she goes above and beyond to care for students and families. She has a down-to-earth personality and is known for bringing people together. At Clinton, she made an ofrenda to connect the school community through this cherished cultural tradition and keep the memories of loved ones alive. She is excellent at creating relationships with parents, leading parent workshops and serving as the connector between school and community. Parents shared that she puts others before herself and is constantly everywhere on campus lending a helping hand. Anita is homegrown and has children in this district. It’s clear to everyone she interacts with that she has a heart for the GGUSD community.
