Dear Families,

Garden Grove Unified School District administrators are hard at work planning for the reopening of schools for in-person instruction under the Governor’s new Safe Schools for All Plan. We expect to have more details to share in the upcoming weeks.

Distance Learning Customer Satisfaction Survey Results
In the meantime, instructional leaders remain focused on finding new ways to strengthen GGUSD’s distance learning program for all students. Our recent survey was helpful in identifying key areas of strength and areas for growth. We received about 7,000 survey responses (approximately 17.5% of all students), which, while not the majority of families, did provide useful information.

Elementary school parents expressed  an overall satisfaction with distance learning (79%), while also expressing an interest in greater direct instructional time (33%) and reporting (43%) that their children were not spending the asynchronous/independent time daily. Secondary parents also expressed an overall satisfaction with distance learning (77%) while also expressing that their children would benefit from additional academic support (59%). Overall, parents reported that, while their children benefited most from in-person instruction (59%), 68% indicated that they would prefer for schools to remain in distance learning until COVID-19 rates improve.

Resources to Support Online Learning 
This week, we hosted three parent webinars on Pathblazer (TK-6) and Edgenuity Courseware (7-12), an interactive platform designed to supplement classroom instruction and support students across many subject areas. COVID-19 Vaccine Info
State and county leaders are advancing their efforts to make the COVID-19 vaccine accessible in our communities beginning first with critical and healthcare workers and recently announcing a Super POD vaccination site at Disneyland Resort for individuals age 65 and older. Click here for the most recent update about the COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Orange County.

Mental Health and Wellness and Unity and Civility
To close, we know that both students and adults alike are feeling stressed and anxious over the horrific violence that unfolded in our nation’s Capitol last week and the hostility of our current political climate. These tragedies are difficult to understand at any age.  Now more than ever, we must support each other and build each other up – in words and actions.  We must remain committed to civil discourse and kindness to others – no matter how divided our views may be.  Together, we can show our students that our nation is resilient and we can provide our students with the support they need to overcome any troubling emotions they are facing.

Part of our district’s Choose Wellness campaign is tackling hate and bias that can often rise to the surface when political tensions are high.  We have made great strides in fostering a positive school culture and climate focused on inclusivity. We hope that that our commitment to unity and civility will have ripple effects throughout our community. Our work on these topic is ongoing.  Save the Date for the evening of March 8 at 5:30 p.m.! GGUSD will host a VIRTUAL Choose Wellness event for parents and students with a variety of online workshops from local experts on important mental health and wellness topics.

Los administradores del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Garden Grove están trabajando arduamente para planear la reapertura de las escuelas para la instrucción en persona bajo el nuevo Plan del Gobernador de Escuelas Seguras para Todos. Esperamos tener más detalles para compartir en las próximas semanas.

Resultados de la Encuesta de Satisfacción del Cliente Sobre el Aprendizaje a Distancia 

Mientras tanto, los líderes de la instrucción permanecen enfocados en encontrar nuevas maneras de fortalecer el programa de aprendizaje a distancia del GGUSD para todos los alumnos. Nuestra encuesta reciente nos ayudó a identificar las áreas más importantes que necesitan mejorar y las áreas de crecimiento. Recibimos alrededor de 7,000 respuestas a la encuesta (aproximadamente el 17.5% de todos los alumnos), que, aunque no fue la mayoría de las familias, sí proporcionaron información muy útil.

El 79% de los padres de familia de las escuelas primarias expresaron una satisfacción general con el aprendizaje a distancia, mientras que el 33% también expresó interés en tener más tiempo de instrucción directa, y un 43% reportó que sus hijos no pasaban el tiempo asincrónico/ independiente todos los días. Un 77% de los padres de familia de las escuelas secundarias también expresó una satisfacción general con el aprendizaje a distancia y también un 59% también expresó que sus hijos se beneficiarían de un apoyo académico adicional. En general, los padres de familia reportaron que, aunque sus hijos se beneficiarían más de la instrucción en persona 59%, el 68% indicó que preferirían que las escuelas permanecieran en el aprendizaje a distancia hasta que los índices de COVID-19 mejoren.

Salud mental y bienestar y unidad y civilidad 

Para cerrar, sabemos que tanto los alumnos como los adultos se sienten estresados y ansiosos por la terrible violencia que se desarrolló en el Capitolio de nuestra nación la semana pasada y la hostilidad de nuestro clima político actual. Estas tragedias son difíciles de comprender a cualquier edad. Ahora más que nunca, debemos apoyarnos y fortalecernos mutuamente, con palabras y acciones. Debemos seguir comprometidos con el discurso civil y la amabilidad hacia los demás, sin importar qué tan divididas puedan estar nuestras opiniones. Juntos, podemos mostrarles a nuestros alumnos que nuestra nación es fuerte y podemos brindarles el apoyo que necesitan para superar cualquier emoción preocupante que estén enfrentando.

Parte de la campaña de Elige el Bienestar de nuestro Distrito es abordar el odio y los prejuicios que a menudo pueden surgir cuando las tensiones políticas son altas. Hemos logrado grandes avances en fomentar una cultura y un entorno escolar positivo centrado en la inclusión. Esperamos que nuestro compromiso con la unidad y la civilidad tenga un efecto dominó en toda nuestra comunidad. Nuestro trabajo en este tema es continuo. ¡Reserve la fecha para la noche del 8 de marzo, a las 5:30 p.m.! El GGUSD organizará un evento VIRTUAL de Elige el Bienestar para los padres de familia y alumnos, el cual contará con una variedad de talleres en línea de expertos locales sobre temas importantes de la salud mental y del bienestar.

Ban điều hành Khu Học Chính Garden Grove đang nỗ lực hoạch định việc trở lại giảng dạy cho học sinh tại trường dựa theo Kế Hoạch Giữ Mọi Trường Học An Toàn của Thống Đốc. Trong những tuần lễ sắp tới, chúng tôi sẽ thông báo với quý vị khi có thêm chi tiết.

Kết Quả Cuộc Thăm Dò Sự Hài Lòng Của Phụ Huynh Về Chương Trình Học Trên Mạng

Hiện nay, ban giáo vụ GGUSD vẫn đặt trọng tâm vào việc tìm kiếm những phương cách mới nhằm củng cố chương trình học trên mạng cho tất cả học sinh. Cuộc thăm dò gần đây đã giúp chúng tôi nhận ra các ưu điểm cũng như những mặt cần cải tiến. Số lượng phúc đáp chúng tôi nhận được khoảng 7,000 bản thăm dò (tương đương với 17.5% sĩ số học sinh), tuy không phải là đa số, nhưng cũng cho chúng tôi biết được những chi tiết hữu ích. 79% phụ huynh các học sinh tiểu học hài lòng với chương trình học trên mạng về mọi mặt, đồng thời 33% phụ huynh mong muốn gia tăng thời lượng giảng dạy trực tiếp và 43% phụ huynh cho biết rằng con em họ không dành thời gian để tự làm bài. 77% phụ huynh các học sinh trung học cũng bày tỏ sự hài lòng chung với chương trình học trên mạng, đồng thời 59% phụ huynh cũng mong muốn con em được hỗ trợ thêm để đạt tiến bộ trong việc học. Nhìn chung, trong khi 59% phụ huynh cho biết chương trình học ở trường giúp ích con em học sinh nhiều nhất, 68% phụ huynh vẫn muốn con em học trên mạng ở nhà cho đến khi tình hình dịch COVID-19 tiến triển khả quan hơn.

Các Nguồn Hỗ Trợ Việc Học Trên Mạng
 Tuần này, chúng tôi đã tổ chức ba buổi hướng dẫn trên mạng dành cho phụ huynh về ‘Pathblazer’ (Mẫu giáo sơ học-lớp 6) và ‘Edgenuity Courseware’ (lớp 7- lớp 12). Đây là nền mạng dùng để tương tác nhằm bổ sung cho việc giảng dạy trên mạng và hỗ trợ học sinh trong nhiều môn học. Nếu bỏ lỡ buổi này, quý vị có thể bấm vào đây để xem video. Thông Tin Về Thuốc Chích Ngừa COVID-19

Các viên chức lãnh đạo của tiểu bang và hạt đang nỗ lực cung cấp thuốc chích ngừa COVID-19 cho các cộng đồng, ưu tiên cho các nhân viên thiết yếu và y tế quan trọng và vừa mới thông báo địa điểm chích ngừa rộng lớn dành cho những người 65 tuổi trở lên tại khu du lịch Disneyland Resort. Bấm vào đây để biết thông tin cập nhật về địa điểm chích ngừa COVID-19 trong hạt Orange.

Sức Khoẻ Tâm Thần, Sự An Vui, Sự Đoàn Kết Và Tinh Thần Ôn Hoà

Để kết thúc, chúng tôi biết là cả học sinh lẫn những người lớn đều cảm thấy căng thẳng và lo âu trước sự bạo động kinh khủng xảy ra tại Điện Capitol của đất nước chúng ta vào tuần rồi cùng với không khí thù hận trong bối cảnh chính trị hiện nay. Dù ở bất cứ lứa tuổi nào, cũng thật khó mà hiểu được những thảm họa này. Hơn bao giờ hết, chúng ta cần phải hỗ trợ và xây dựng lẫn nhau – bằng lời nói và hành động. Dù quan điểm của chúng ta có khác biệt thế nào đi nữa, chúng ta phải giữ được cách đàm luận ôn hoà và sự tử tế với nhau. Cùng nhau hợp tác, chúng ta sẽ giúp học sinh thấy được tinh thần kiên cường của đất nước chúng ta, cũng như giúp các em đối phó và vượt qua được mọi bất an về cảm xúc.

Một phần trong cuộc vận động Chọn Sự Lành Mạnh của học khu là đối phó với sự gia tăng về nạn thù ghét và thành kiến khi tình hình chính trị trở nên căng thẳng. Chúng tôi đã đạt được nhiều bước tiến đáng kể trong việc xây dựng môi trường và không khí học đường tích cực chú trọng vào sự hoà đồng. Chúng tôi mong rằng quyết tâm xây dựng tinh thần đoàn kết và giữ ôn hoà của học khu sẽ mang lại hiệu quả lan rộng trong khắp cộng đồng. Chúng tôi vẫn tiếp tục công việc liên quan đến những chủ đề này. Mong quý vị tham dự buổi sinh hoạt trên mạng lúc 5:30 chiều ngày 8 tháng 3 sắp tới. GGUSD sẽ tổ chức buổi hội thảo Chọn Sự Lành Mạnh TRÊN MẠNG dành cho phụ huynh và học sinh do các chuyên viên trong vùng trình bày, bao gồm nhiều đề tài quan trọng về sự an vui và sức khoẻ tâm thần.
