Reopening Update - February 26, 2021

Dear Parents,

WELCOME BACK: It was a wonderful week as staff at 13 of our elementary schools welcomed students back to campus for in-person instruction! We could not be more pleased with how smoothly students transitioned back to the classroom to engage and learn togetherGREAT NEWS: We are excited to share with you that this week ALL of GGUSD’s school zip codes had COVID-19 rates below 25 per 100,000. This means that all elementary schools meet the district’s criteria to reopen for in-person instruction.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REOPENING STATUS: Allen, Barker, Enders, Garden Park, Monroe and Patton elementary schools  opened on February 22; Anthony Elementary School opened on February 23; Cook, Gilbert, Hill, Northcutt, Sunnyside, and Zeyen elementary schools opened on February 24; and Heritage, Murdy, Newhope, Russell and Stanford elementary schools will open on March 1.  

Bryant, Eisenhower, Excelsior, Morningside, and Riverdale elementary schools are scheduled to open on March 3; Marshall, Paine, Peters K-3, Wakeham and Woodbury elementary schools are scheduled to open on March 4. The remaining elementary schools (Brookhurst, Carrillo, Clinton, Crosby, Evans, Faylane, Hazard, Lawrence, Parkview, Peters 4-6, Post, Rosita, Simmons, Stanley, Violette and Warren) are scheduled to open during the week of March 8.

State preschool classrooms will be opening alongside the elementary schools and families are being notified by the Director of Preschool Programs.

SECONDARY SCHOOL REOPENING STATUS: Secondary schools that previously opened are preparing to reopen for in-person instruction including Bell Intermediate’s MS program which opened on February 22 with General Education opening on March 1 as well as Irvine, McGarvin, Ralston, and Walton intermediate schools and Hare High School on March 8. All other intermediate and high schools that have not previously opened cannot do so until Orange County returns to the red tier, which the county is very close to doing. If the county goes into the red tier as soon as Tuesday, March 2, those intermediate and high schools could open within a few weeks of that date. School principals will keep you informed as well.  

Mark Twain Special Education Center will open on March 2 and Jordan ATP will open on March 9.

As a reminder, once schools are reopened for in-person instruction, they will not close again unless mandated by the state or county.

While we are optimistic about the improved conditions of COVID-19 in our communities, it is extremely important that we remain vigilant in our health and safety procedures.

There are many ways that parents can help keep our students safe, including:

  • Keep your child home from school if he/she has any symptoms of illness or COVID-19 or has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Complete the daily Health Screening Form on ParentSquare to confirm that your child(ren) are not coming onto campus with COVID-19 symptoms or recent exposure.
  • Pre-register your child(ren) to participate in free schoolwide COVID-19 testing when it’s offered at your child(ren)’s school site.
  • Ensure that your child wears their face covering to school each day and practices frequent hand washing.
  • Contact the school if anyone in your family tests positive for COVID-19.

Preventing the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses is a community-wide effort and we appreciate the support of our families.

VACCINE DISTRIBUTION: In addition to daily health and safety protocols to keep our campuses safe, GGUSD is working with OCHCA and OCDE to expedite vaccine distribution for school employees across Orange County.  Based on state guidelines, Orange County health officials recently announced that 30% of the new COVID-19 vaccine shipments will be allocated for education and childcare workers along with the food and agriculture sectors. OCHCA and OCDE recently opened the first vaccine distribution pod for school employees in GGUSD which focused first on school health care workers and GGUSD employees age 65 and older.  Beginning March 1, it will be open to all school-based employees in Orange County and additional education pods will be set up at multiple school districts throughout the county.

We will continue to communicate opportunities for GGUSD families (non-employees) to get vaccinated, either at one of the super pods at Disneyland, Soka University, Santa Ana College, and the Anaheim Convention Center, or through local health care providers and pharmacies. Orange County residents can register through www.Othena.com to view available appointments and to keep informed of upcoming availability.  Beginning Friday, February 26th, COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered by Latino Health Access for GGUSD family members (parents, grandparents, etc.) who live in Garden Grove and Santa Ana and are age 65 or older. MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS: All parents, staff, and intermediate and high school students are invited to our Choose Wellness Event on Monday, March 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 which will feature workshops led by local experts on a variety of mental health and wellness topics. Click here to view a list of the workshops. GRAB AND GO MEAL UPDATE: Grab and Go meal service is currently being offered at schools that are reopen for in-person instruction. Beginning March 1, the Curbside Drive-Through Grab and Go Meal Service will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ralston Intermediate School and all seven comprehensive high schools including Bolsa Grande, Garden Grove, La Quinta, Los Amigos, Pacifica, Rancho Alamitos, and Santiago high schools.

BIENVENIDOS DE REGRESO: ¡Fue una semana maravillosa ya que el personal de 13 de nuestras escuelas primarias dio a los alumnos la bienvenida de regreso al plantel escolar para la instrucción en persona! No podríamos estar más complacidos con lo fácil que fue la transición de los alumnos al regresar a su salón de clases para participar y aprender juntos.

EXCELENTES NOTICIAS: Nos complace compartir con ustedes que esta semana TODOS los códigos postales de las escuelas del GGUSD tuvieron índices de COVID-19 de menos de 25 casos por 100,000 personas. Esto significa que todas las escuelas primarias cumplen con el criterio del Distrito para reabrir la instrucción en persona.

SITUACIÓN ACTUAL SOBRE LA REAPERTURA DE LAS ESCUELAS INTERMEDIAS Y SECUNDARIAS: Las escuelas secundarias que abrieron previamente se están preparando para reabrir para la instrucción en persona lo que incluye el programa de Educación Especial de Moderado a Severo de la Escuela Intermedia Bell que abrió el 22 de febrero, y la Educación General abrirá el 1.o de marzo, al igual que las escuelas intermedias de Irvine, McGarvin, Ralston, y Walton y la Escuela Secundaria Hare el 8 de marzo.   • Asegurarse que su hijo use una mascarilla para cubrirse la cara todos los días que venga a la escuela y se lave las manos frecuentemente.
  • Comunicarle a la escuela si alguien en su familia tiene un resultado positivo en la prueba de COVID-19.

NOTICIAS MÁS RECIENTES SOBRE EL SERVICIO DE COMIDAS PARA RECOGER Y LLEVAR: El servicio de comidas para recoger y llevar se está ofreciendo actualmente en las escuelas que reabrieron para la instrucción en persona. Comenzando el 1.o de marzo, el servicio de comidas para recoger y llevar desde su automóvil se ofrecerá el lunes, miércoles y viernes de 11:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m. en la Escuela Intermedia Ralston y en todas las siete secundarias integrales que incluye Bolsa Grande, Garden Grove, La Quinta, Los Amigos, Pacifica, Rancho Alamitos y Santiago. 

Esperamos ver cada vez más alumnos del GGUSD de regreso en los planteles escolares para la instrucción en persona en las próximas semanas.

CHÀO MỪNG HỌC SINH TRỞ LẠI TRƯỜNG: Trong tuần lễ đáng ghi nhớ này, nhân viên tại 13 trường tiểu học đã chào mừng các em học sinh quay trở lại trường để học trong lớp. Không còn gì vui hơn khi việc mở lại trường đã diễn tiến tốt đẹp để các em học sinh đến lớp cùng nhau học hỏi và giao tiếp.

TIN VUI: Chúng tôi hân hoan thông báo cùng quý vị là trong tuần này TẤT CẢ các vùng bưu chính có trường GGUSD đều có tỷ lệ COVID-19 dưới 25/100,000. Điều này có nghĩa là tất cả các trường tiểu học đã đáp ứng điều kiện của học khu để mở lại giảng dạy trong lớp.

LỊCH MỞ LẠI CỦA CÁC TRƯỜNG TRUNG HỌC: Những trường trung học nào trước đây đã từng mở lại và hiện đang chuẩn bị cho việc mở lại để giảng dạy trong lớp bao gồm Trường Trung Học Cấp I Bell (Chương Trình MS vào ngày 22 tháng 2 và Chương Trình Giáo Dục Phổ Thông vào ngày 1 tháng 3); các Trường Trung Học Cấp I Irvine, McGarvin, Ralston, và Walton và Trung Học Cấp II Hare High School sẽ mở lại vào ngày 8 tháng 3. Tất cả các trường trung học cấp I và cấp II khác, trước nay chưa mở, sẽ chỉ được mở lại khi Hạt Orange chuyển sang lại cấp màu đỏ, và điều này đang có nhiều triển vọng sẽ đạt được.  Có rất nhiều cách để phụ huynh giữ cho con em được an toàn, bao gồm:

  • Cho con em ở nhà nếu em có những triệu chứng bị bệnh hay nhiễm COVID-19, hoặc gần đây đã tiếp xúc với người bị dương tính COVID-19.
  • Hoàn tất Mẫu Kiểm Tra Sức Khoẻ Hàng Ngày trên ParentSquare để xác nhận rằng quý vị không cho con đến trường khi em có triệu chứng hoặc đã tiếp xúc với người bị COVID-19.
  • Ghi danh trước cho con tham gia chương trình thử COVID-19 toàn trường và miễn phí khi trường có tổ chức.
  • Bảo đảm con em quý vị đeo khẩu trang mỗi ngày khi đến trường và thường xuyên rửa tay.
  • Liên lạc văn phòng trường nếu người nhà quý vị bị dương tính COVID-19.

Ngăn ngừa COVID-19 lây lan trong trường là nỗ lực chung của cộng đồng và chúng tôi rất cám ơn sự hỗ trợ của quý vị.

PHÂN PHỐI THUỐC CHÍCH NGỪA: Bên cạnh việc thực thi các quy định y tế nhằm giữ cho các trường học của chúng ta được an toàn, GGUSD đang hợp tác với OCHCA và OCDE nhằm thúc đẩy việc chích ngừa nhanh chóng cho nhân viên trường trong toàn Hạt Orange. Dựa theo quy định của tiểu bang, các viên chức y tế Hạt Orange gần đây cho biết rằng 30% kiện hàng thuốc chích ngừa COVID-19 mới sẽ được phân định cho nhân viên ngành giáo dục và nhân viên chăm sóc trẻ em cùng với ngành thực phẩm và nông nghiệp. Gần đây, OCHCA và OCDE đã mở địa điểm phân phối thuốc chích ngừa đầu tiên cho các nhân viên trường học của GGUSD, ưu tiên trước cho các nhân viên y tế trường và các nhân viên GGUSD từ 65 tuổi trở lên. CẬP NHẬT VỀ VIỆC PHÁT THỨC ĂN TỚI LẤY MANG ĐI: Dịch vụ Phát Thức Ăn Tới Lấy Mang đi hiện đang phục vụ tại các trường đã mở lại để dạy trong lớp. Bắt đầu từ ngày 1 tháng 3,  Dịch vụ Phát Thức Ăn Tới Lấy Mang Đi sẽ phát vào ngày thứ hai, thứ tư và thứ sáu từ 11 giờ đến 1 giờ trưa tại trường Trung Học Cấp I Ralston và tại 7 trường trung học phổ thông, bao gồm Bolsa Grande, Garden Grove, La Quinta, Los Amigos, Pacifica, Rancho Alamitos và Santiago.
