School Reopening Announcement
We are so grateful to our parents, students, and staff for your ongoing patience as we work together toward the reopening of campuses for in-person instruction.
While GGUSD is a unified school district, our district is very diverse, covering 28 square miles and serving over 40,000 students living in 7 cities and attending schools located in 5 different cities. A great deal of variation exists across our large, diverse district in respect to parent and student interest in returning, staffing, and local community context. Additionally, while COVID-19 rates in some areas of the district are much lower than the county average, in other areas those rates are significantly higher and increasing as of late.
In order to meet the unique needs of the 67 schools across our district, GGUSD will reopen campuses for in-person instruction in phases, beginning first in areas meeting specific criteria including: low COVID-19 rates; high parent/student interest in reopening; school facility ready for return; hybrid or distance learning schedules established; and all staffing leaves covered.
Phase One of GGUSD School Reopening will begin Wednesday, October 28th. The schools reopening in Tier One that meet all the criteria are: Barker, Bryant, Eisenhower, Enders, Garden Park, Marshall, Monroe, Patton, and Sunnyside elementary schools, Mark Twain Special Education Center, Bell and Walton intermediate schools, Hare High School, and Jordan Adult Transition Program.
Tier Two schools will reopen two weeks later on Thursday, November 12th and Tier Three schools will reopen on Tuesday, December 1st, following the Thanksgiving Break. The final phase will be in January for remaining schools whose local COVID-19 rates prevent an earlier opening. The lists of schools for Tiers 2-4 will be announced well in advance of those dates, pending a review of criteria being met for each school. All return to school reopening dates remain contingent on local COVID-19 rates remaining low or improving. In the meantime, the district is coordinating expansions of our full day or partial day Boys and Girls Club with a phased-in expansion. Currently, we have 5 sites open and over the next few weeks an additional 10 Boys and Girls Club programs will open to provide full day supervision for working families and allow students to participate in distance learning from their school for a full day with support of Boys and Girls Club staff.
Under this phased-in approach, prior to schools reopening for in-person classes, students will remain in distance learning. Upon each school reopening, parents may choose to send their child(ren) to school for in-person/hybrid instruction, keep their child(ren) in an all distance learning at their school if it will be offered, apply for a possible transfer to another GGUSD school where an all distance learning model is offered or apply to the Virtual Learning Academy. Those who have expressed interest in the Virtual Learning Academy will receive information about the application process to enroll and begin with the Virtual Learning Academy on October 28 for K-6 students or October 26 for 7-12 students.
Orange County was cleared to reopen school campuses on September 22. To date, of the 28 districts in Orange County, 13 districts have already opened campuses for in-person instruction and 7 will start in the coming month.
In order to prepare all students and families for a return to in-person classes, GGUSD is hosting Health and Safety Webinars for Parents and Students on Friday, October 9, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and next Thursday, October 15 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to attend the October 15 training. Interpretation in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Arabic will be offered at both sessions. Click here for the flyer with registration information. The webinar will cover a variety of topics including daily health screenings, temperature taking, bus safety, mask protocols, indoor and outdoor safety measures, responding to illness on campus and more. For those who are unable to attend, we will be sharing a video of the webinar to ensure families are well-informed of the safety protocols in place for school reopening.
GGUSD is working hard to ensure our reopening plans reflect the needs of our community. Our key focus continues to be the safety of our students, staff and learning community. We also recognize there is no perfect solution to school reopening and that perspectives and personal circumstances vary. Thanks to our entire school community for your patience as we work toward reopening all schools in GGUSD. Estamos muy agradecidos con nuestros padres de familia, alumnos y personal por su paciencia continua mientras trabajamos juntos para la reapertura de los planteles escolares para la instrucción en persona.
Mientras que el GGUSD es un distrito escolar unificado, nuestro Distrito es muy diverso, el cual cubre 28 millas cuadradas y brinda sus servicios a más de 40,000 alumnos que viven en otras 7 ciudades y asisten a escuelas ubicadas en 5 ciudades diferentes. Existe una gran variación en todo nuestro gran y diverso Distrito con respecto al interés que tienen los padres de familia en que los alumnos regresen, asignación del personal y contexto de la comunidad local. Además, mientras que los índices del COVID-19 en algunas áreas del Distrito son mucho más bajos que el promedio del condado, en otras áreas esos índices son significativamente más altos y recientemente siguen aumentando.
Con el fin de satisfacer las necesidades únicas de las 67 escuelas de nuestro Distrito, el GGUSD reabrirá los planteles escolares para la instrucción en persona en fases, comenzando primero en las áreas que cumplan con criterios específicos que incluyen: índices bajos del COVID-19; mayor interés de los padres de familia y alumnos en reabrir; instalaciones escolares listas para regresar; horarios de aprendizaje establecidos híbridos o a distancia; y que se cubran los puestos del personal que pidió permiso para faltar.
La Fase Uno de la Reapertura de las Escuelas del GGUSD comenzará el miércoles, 28 de octubre. Las escuelas que reabrirán en el Nivel Uno que cumplen con todos los criterios son:

Aquellas personas que hayan expresado interés por la Academia de Aprendizaje Virtual recibirán información sobre el proceso de la solicitud para inscribirse y comenzar en la Academia de Aprendizaje Virtual el 28 de octubre para los alumnos en los grados de Kínder a 6.̊ y el 26 de octubre para los alumnos en los grados del 7.̊ al 12.̊.
El 22 de septiembre se autorizó que el Condado de Orange reabriera los planteles escolares. Hasta la fecha, de los 28 distritos del Condado de Orange, 13 distritos ya han abierto sus planteles escolares para la instrucción en persona y 7 comenzarán el próximo mes.

Thông Báo về việc Mở Trường Lại
Chúng tôi vô cùng cảm kích quý phụ huynh, học sinh và nhân viên vẫn luôn kiên nhẫn trong lúc chúng ta cùng hợp tác trong việc mở trường lại để giảng dạy trong lớp. GGUSD là một học khu tổng hợp, rất đa dạng, trải rộng với diện tích 28 dặm vuông và phục vụ hơn 40,000 học sinh cư ngụ trong 7 thành phố và theo học tại các trường thuộc 5 thành phố khác nhau. Có rất nhiều điểm khác biệt trong học khu rộng lớn và đa dạng của chúng ta, xét về ý muốn của phụ huynh và học sinh đối với việc trở lại trường, nhân sự, và bối cảnh cộng đồng địa phương. Ngoài ra, trong khi tỷ lệ COVID-19 tại một số vùng trong học khu thấp hơn nhiều so với tỷ lệ trung bình của toàn Hạt, thì gần đây tại một số nơi khác tỷ lệ lại cao hơn đáng kể và đang gia tăng.
Để đáp ứng nhu cầu riêng của 67 trường trong toàn học khu, GGUSD sẽ mở lại các trường để giảng dạy trong lớp theo từng giai đoạn, bắt đầu với những vùng hội đủ các điều kiện cụ thể như: tỷ lệ COVID-19 thấp, nhiều phụ huynh/học sinh muốn mở trường lại; cơ sở trường ốc đã sẵn sàng để hoạt động lại, đã có lịch học kết hợp hay học trên mạng tại nhà; và mọi chỗ trống về mặt nhân sự đã được bổ sung.
Giai đoạn Một trong Tiến Trình GGUSD Mở Trường Lại sẽ bắt đầu vào thứ tư, ngày 28 tháng 10. Các trường hội đủ điều kiện để mở lại trong Giai Đoạn Một gồm có: các trường tiểu học Barker, Bryant, Eisenhower, Enders, Garden Park, Marshall, Monroe, Patton, và Sunnyside, Trường Giáo Dục Đặc Biệt Mark Twain, các trường trung học cấp I Bell và Walton, trường trung học cấp II Hare, và Chương Trình Giáo Dục Chuyển Tiếp Tráng Niên Jordan.
Các trường thuộc Giai Đoạn Hai sẽ mở cửa hai tuần sau đó, vào thứ năm, ngày 12 tháng 11 và các trường thuộc Giai Đoạn Ba sẽ mở cửa vào thứ ba, ngày 1 tháng 12, sau kỳ nghỉ Lễ Tạ Ơn. Giai đoạn cuối sẽ vào tháng Một dành cho các trường còn lại do nằm trong khu vực có tỷ lệ COVID-19 cao nên không thể mở sớm hơn.
Danh sách các trường trong Giai Đoạn 2-4 sẽ được thông báo sớm trước hạn mở lại, với điều kiện các trường này hội đủ yêu cầu. Tất cả các ngày mở lại còn tuỳ thuộc vào tỷ lệ COVID-19 ở địa phương tiếp tục ở mức thấp hay giảm bớt. Trong thời gian này, học khu đang tìm cách mở rộng chương trình Câu Lạc Bộ Thanh Thiếu Niên nguyên ngày hay nửa ngày theo từng giai đoạn. Hiện nay chúng tôi đã mở được 5 địa điểm và trong vòng vài tuần nữa sẽ mở thêm 10 địa điểm có chương trình Câu Lạc Bộ Thanh Thiếu Niên nguyên ngày để hỗ trợ các gia đình phải đi làm và giúp học sinh tham gia vào chương trình học trên mạng nguyên ngày của trường các em với sự hỗ trợ của các nhân viên Câu Lạc Bộ Thanh Thiếu Niên.
Với cách thức theo từng giai đoạn như thế, trước khi các trường mở lại để giảng dạy trong lớp, các học sinh vẫn tiếp tục học trên mạng tại nhà. Khi từng trường mở lại, phụ huynh có thể chọn cho con em quay lại trường/học kết hợp, cho con em ở nhà học hoàn toàn trên mạng với trường của em nếu trường có chương trình này, làm đơn cho con em đổi sang một trường khác trong GGUSD nơi có chương trình học hoàn toàn trên mạng, hay ghi danh cho các em học Trường Học Toàn Phần Trên Mạng VLA. Những phụ huynh nào muốn con em theo học VLA sẽ nhận được thông báo về thủ tục nộp đơn để ghi danh và theo học VLA sẽ băt đầu vào ngày 28 tháng 10 dành cho lớp Mẫu Giáo- lớp 6 và ngày 26 tháng 10 dành cho học sinh lớp 7-12.
Hạt Orange được phép mở lại vào ngày 22 tháng 9. Cho đến thời điểm này, trong số 28 học khu thuộc Hạt Orange đã có 13 học khu mở cửa lại để giảng dạy trong lớp và sẽ có 7 học khu nữa bắt đầu trong tháng tới.
Để chuẩn bị cho mọi học sinh và gia đình trở lại việc học trong lớp, GGUSD sẽ tổ chức Buổi Hướng Dẫn Trên Mạng về An Toàn và Y Tế dành cho Phụ Huynh và Học Sinh vào thứ sáu ngày 9 tháng 10 từ 9:30 sáng-11:00 trưa và thứ năm tới 15 tháng 10 từ 5:30 chiều-7:00 tối. Chúng tôi khuyến khích các học sinh nên tham dự buổi hướng dẫn ngày 15 tháng 10. Sẽ có thông dịch các thứ tiếng Tây-ban-nha, Việt-nam, Đại-hàn và Ả-rập. Buổi hướng dẫn sẽ gồm nhiều đề tài như kiểm tra sức khoẻ hàng ngày, đo thân nhiệt, biện pháp an toàn khi đi xe buýt, quy định về khẩu trang, các biện pháp giữ an toàn khi ở trong lớp và ngoài sân trường, cách ứng phó với việc nhiễm bệnh trong trường, và nhiều điều khác. Với những phụ huynh không thể tham dự, chúng tôi sẽ phổ biến một video về buổi hướng dẫn để bảo đảm các gia đình được cập nhật đầy đủ các biện pháp giữ an toàn khi mở trường lại.
GGUSD đang nỗ lực làm việc để bảo đảm kế hoạch mở trường lại của chúng tôi đáp ứng được nhu cầu của cộng đồng chúng ta. Trọng tâm của chúng tôi vẫn là sự an toàn của học sinh, nhân viên và cộng đồng trường học. Chúng tôi cũng biết rằng không có giải pháp nào là hoàn hảo trong việc mở trường lại, và quan điểm cũng như trường hợp của từng cá nhân cũng có sự khác biệt. Cám ơn toàn thể cộng đồng các trường trong học khu đã kiên nhẫn trong khi chúng tôi chuẩn bị cho việc mở lại trường. 대면 교육을 위한 학교 재개를 위하여 함께 노력하는 동안 지속적인 인내심을 보여주신 학부모, 학생 및 교직원 여러분께 감사드립니다.
GGUSD는 통합 교육구이므로 매우 다양하며, 28평방 마일을 차지하고, 7개 도시에 거주하고 5 개 도시에서 등교하는 40,000 명 이상의 학생에게 서비스를 제공하고 있습니다. 교육구가 크고 다양함에 따라 학교 재개, 직원 배치 및 지역사회 상황 등에 대한 학부모 및 학생의 관심과 관련하여 대단히 많은 변수가 상존합니다. 또한 교육구 관할 구역 일부 지역에서는 COVID-19 비율이 카운티 평균보다 훨씬 낮지만 다른 지역에서는 이러한 비율이 훨씬 더 높고 최근에는 증가하고 있는 상황입니다.
교육구 전체 67개 학교의 고유한 요구 사항을 충족하기 위해 GGUSD는 다음과 같은 특정 기준을 충족하는 지역에서 먼저 시작하여 단계적으로 대면 교육을 받을 수 있도록 캠퍼스를 재개 할 예정입니다. 여기에는 낮은 COVID-19 비율, 학교 재개에 대한 높은 학부모/학생의 관심도, 복귀 준비가 완료된 학교 시설, 하이브리드 또는 원격 학습 일정 수립, 그리고 모든 교사의 공석 대체가 가능한 상황등이 포함됩니다.
GGUSD 학교 재개의 1단계는 10월 28일, 수요일에 시작됩니다. 모든 기준을 충족하여 1단계에서 재개하게 될 초등학교는 바커, 브라이언트, 아이젠하워, 엔더스, 가든 파크, 마샬, 몬로, 패튼, 서니사이드이고 마크 트웨인 특수 교육 센터, 벨 중학교, 월튼 중학교, 해어 고등학교, 그리고 조던 성인 전환 프로그램입니다.
2단계 학교는 2주 후인 11월 12일, 목요일에 재개하고, 3단계 학교는 추수 감사절 방학 후인 12월 1일, 화요일에 재개하게 됩니다. 최종 단계는 지역 COVID-19 비율로 인해 조기 재개를 할 수 없는 나머지 학교로 1월이 될 것입니다. 2-4단계에 해당하는 학교 명단 목록은 각 학교에 대한 기준 검토가 있을 때까지 해당 날짜에 앞서 발표될 것입니다. 모든 학교 재개를 위한 복귀 날짜는 지역의 COVID-19 비율이 낮거나 개선되는 경우에 따라 달라집니다. 그 동안 교육구는 단계적 확장을 통해 보이즈 앤 걸스 클럽의 종일반 또는 일부 시간제반등의 프로그램 확장을 위해 조정하고 있습니다. 현재, 5개의 장소를 개설하고 있으며, 다음 몇 주에 걸쳐 추가로 10개의 보이즈 앤 걸스 클럽 프로그램이 개설되어 직장을 가진 가족을 위해 종일반을 제공하여, 학생이 보이즈 앤 걸스 클럽 교직원의 지원을 받아 자신의 학교에서 원격 학습에 참여할 수 있도록 할 것입니다.
이러한 단계적 접근 방식에 따라 학교가 대면 수업을 재개하기 전에 학생들은 원격 학습을 계속 받게 됩니다. 각 학교가 재개되어 자녀를 학교에 보낼 때 학부모님은 대면/하이브리드 교육 중 선택할 수 있고 , 자녀의 학교에서 모든 원격 학습이 제공된다면, 자녀는 원격 수업을 택할 수 있고, 모든 원격 학습 모델이 제공되는 다른 GGUSD 학교로 전학신청도 가능하고, 가상 학습 아카데미에 지원할 수도 있습니다. 가상 학습 아카데미에 관심을 표명하신 학부모님들은 이를 위한 등록 신청 절차에 대한 정보를 받게 되며, 가상 학습 아카데미 K-6학년을 위한 프로그램은 10월 28일에 시작되고, 7-12 학년은 10월 26일에 시작됩니다.
오렌지 카운티는 9월 22일에 학교 캠퍼스를 재개할 수 있도록 허가를 했습니다. 현재까지 오렌지 카운티의 28개 교육구 중 13개 교육구는 대면 교육을 위해 이미 캠퍼스를 열었으며, 7개 교육구는 다음 달에 시작합니다.
