School Reopening Announcement
Dear Parents,
Earlier this month, we announced that GGUSD will reopen for in-person hybrid instruction in phases as schools meet specific criteria including: low COVID-19 rates; high parent/student interest in reopening; school facility ready for return; hybrid or distance learning schedules established; and all staffing leaves covered. Opening in phases allows the district to allocate additional resources to one set of schools at a time to ensure a safe and smooth transition to in-person learning for our students and staff across our nearly 70 campuses.
GGUSD is a very diverse district, covering 28 square miles and serving over 40,000 students living in 7 cities and attending schools located in 5 different cities. A great deal of variation exists across our large, diverse district in respect to COVID-19 rates by zip code, parent and student interest in returning, staffing, and local community context. District leaders consistently monitor COVID-19 positivity rates and daily case counts by zip code, which are maintained and updated by the Orange County Health Care Agency each week.
Following a thorough school-by-school review of all reopening criteria, the following K-8 schools will reopen for hybrid instruction in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
Tier 2 schools that will reopen for in-person hybrid instruction on Thursday, November 12th include: Allen, Anthony, Clinton Corner, Cook, Excelsior, Gilbert, Hill, Mitchell, Morningside, Northcutt, Paine, Peters K-3, Riverdale, Wakeham, Woodbury, and Zeyen elementary schools as well as Irvine, McGarvin, and Ralston intermediate schools. Additionally, we will be reopening some of our special education classrooms at the elementary level.
Tier 3 schools that will reopen for in-person hybrid instruction on Tuesday, December 1 include: Brookhurst, Carver and Early Childhood Education programs, Carrillo, Clinton, Crosby, Evans, Faylane, Hazard, Heritage, Lawrence, Murdy, Newhope, Parkview, Peters 4-6, Post, Rosita, Russell, Simmons, Stanford, Stanley, Violette, and Warren elementary schools; as well as Alamitos, Doig, Fitz, Jordan, and Lake intermediate schools.
Due to the size and complexity of staffing and student schedules at the high school level, the district will continue to evaluate its reopening criteria for each high school to determine if high schools can successfully reopen by December 1st.
The final phase will be in January for remaining schools whose local COVID-19 rates or other unmet criteria prevent an earlier opening. All return to school reopening dates remain contingent on criteria being met including local COVID-19 rates remaining low or improving. If a school identified as Tier 2 or Tier 3 fails to meet the criteria before the identified start date, reopening will be delayed.
Under this phased-in approach, prior to schools reopening for in-person classes, students will remain in distance learning. Upon each school reopening, parents may choose to send their child(ren) to school for in-person/hybrid instruction, keep their child(ren) in an all distance learning at their school if it will be offered, apply for a possible transfer to another GGUSD school where an all distance learning model is offered or attend the Virtual Learning Academy. Those who expressed interest in the Virtual Learning Academy received information about the application process.
The district continues to expand our full day or partial day Boys and Girls Club programs to provide full day supervision for working families and allow students to participate in distance learning from their school for a full day with support of Boys and Girls Club staff. Currently, Boys and Girls Clubs programs are offered at 12 sites with an additional 8 to open next week.
GGUSD is working hard to ensure our reopening plans reflect the needs of our community. Our key focus continues to be the safety of our students, staff and learning community. We recognize there is no perfect solution to school reopening and that perspectives and personal circumstances vary. Debido al tamaño y la complejidad del personal disponible para cubrir los puestos y los horarios de los alumnos a nivel de escuela secundaria, el Distrito continuará evaluando sus criterios de reapertura para cada escuela secundaria para determinar si las escuelas secundarias pueden reabrir con éxito para el 1.̊ de diciembre.

Vào đầu tháng này, GGUSD đã thông báo sẽ mở trường lại theo từng giai đoạn để giảng dạy trong lớp kết hợp với trên mạng, bắt đầu với những trường hội đủ các điều kiện cụ thể như: tỷ lệ COVID-19 ở mức thấp; nhiều phụ huynh/học sinh muốn mở trường lại; cơ sở trường ốc đã sẵn sàng để mở lại; lịch học kết hợp hay học trên mạng tại nhà đã được lập ra; và mọi chỗ trống về mặt nhân sự đã được bổ sung. Kế hoạch mở lại theo từng giai đoạn tạo điều kiện cho học khu phân bổ các nguồn hỗ trợ phụ trội cho từng loạt trường một nhằm bảo đảm sự chuyển tiếp an toàn và thuận lợi cho các nhân viên và cho việc giảng dạy học sinh ở trường trong gần 70 trường học.
GGUSD là một học khu rất đa dạng, trải rộng với diện tích 28 dặm vuông và phục vụ hơn 40,000 học sinh cư ngụ trong 7 thành phố và theo học tại các trường thuộc 5 thành phố khác nhau. Có rất nhiều điểm khác biệt trong học khu rộng lớn và đa dạng của chúng ta, xét về tỷ lệ COVID-19 trong các vùng bưu chính, ý muốn của phụ huynh và học sinh đối với việc trở lại trường, nhân sự, và bối cảnh cộng đồng địa phương.

Sau khi xem xét kỹ càng từng trường một về mọi tiêu chuẩn để mở lại, dưới đây là các trường Mẫu Giáo – lớp 8 thuộc Giai Đoạn 2 và Giai Đoạn 3 sẽ mở lại để giảng dạy theo cách học kết hợp.
Bắt đầu từ thứ năm, ngày 12 tháng 11, các trường thuộc Giai Đoạn 2 sẽ mở lại để giảng dạy theo cách kết hợp bao gồm các trường tiểu học Allen, Anthony, Clinton Corner, Cook, Excelsior, Gilbert, Hill, Mitchell, Morningside, Northcutt, Paine, Peters K-3, Riverdale, Wakeham, Woodbury và Zeyen cũng như các Trường Trung Học cấp I: Irvine, McGarvin và Ralston. Ngoài ra, chúng tôi sẽ mở lại một số lớp giáo dục đặc biệt thuộc cấp tiểu học.

Do các trường trung học cấp II có kích thước, thời khoá biểu học và việc sắp xếp nhân viên phức tạp hơn, học khu sẽ tiếp tục xem xét các tiêu chuẩn để mở lại cho từng trường một nhằm xác định xem việc mở lại các trường trung học cấp II vào ngày 1 tháng 12 có thuận lợi hay không.
Do không đáp ứng yêu cầu về tỷ lệ COVID-19 hay các tiêu chuẩn khác để mở lại sớm hơn, các trường còn lại sẽ thuộc giai đoạn cuối và sẽ mở lại vào tháng 1. Tất cả các ngày mở lại còn tuỳ thuộc vào việc đáp ứng các tiêu chuẩn gồm có tỷ lệ COVID-19 trong vùng tiếp tục ở mức thấp hay giảm bớt. Ngày mở trường lại sẽ bị trì hoãn nếu trường nào thuộc Giai Đoạn 2 hay Giai Đoạn 3 không đáp ứng được các tiêu chuẩn trước ngày dự định mở lại.
Với cách thức mở trường lại theo từng giai đoạn như thế này, trước khi học sinh trở lại trường để học tập trong lớp, các em sẽ vẫn tiếp tục việc học trên mạng ở nhà. Khi từng trường mở lại, phụ huynh có thể chọn giữa các cách sau: học kết hợp ở trường/trên mạng, học hoàn toàn trên mạng nếu trường của em có chương trình này, chuyển cho con em sang học một trường khác trong GGUSD có chương trình học hoàn toàn trên mạng, hoặc cho con theo học Trường Dạy Toàn Phần Trên Mạng (VLA). Chúng tôi đã gửi thông tin để ghi danh vào VLA đến những phụ huynh nào đã bày tỏ ý muốn chọn trường này cho con em.
Học khu tiếp tục mở rộng các chương trình nguyên ngày và nửa ngày tại Câu Lạc Bộ Thanh Thiếu Niên (Boys and Girls Club) để hỗ trợ toàn thời gian những gia đình phải đi làm và tạo điều kiện để học sinh tham gia việc học trên mạng nguyên ngày với trường của các em dưới sự kiểm soát của nhân viên Câu Lạc Bộ Boys and Girls. Hiện nay chúng tôi đã mở chương trình Câu Lạc Bộ Boys and Girls tại 12 địa điểm và sẽ mở thêm tại 8 địa điểm nữa vào tuần tới.

마지막 단계는 내년 1월달로 지역 COViD-19 확진률이나 만족 시키지 못한 다른 범주로 이른 재개를 하지 못하고 남겨진 학교들 입니다. 모든 학생이 학교로 복귀하는 날짜는 지역 COVID-19 확진율이 낮거나 개선된 경우를 포함하여 확인 범주가 만족되는 경우에 따라 나머지 학교도 재개 하게 될 것입니다. 만약 학교가 2단계나 3단계 학교로 확인이 됬지만 학교 시작 날짜를 결정하기 전에 확인 범주를 만족시키지 못하면 재개 날짜가 지연 될 것입니다.
이러한 단계별 접근하에, 대면 수업을 위한 학교가 재개되기 전까지 학생들은 원격 학습을 받게 될 것입니다. 각각의 학교가 재개함에 따라 학부모들은 자녀들을 대면 수업/하이브리드 지도 방식,그리고 만약 학교에서 모든 원격 수업이 제공되면 홈스쿨에서 원격 수업도 받을 수 있고,또한 GGUSD의 모든 수업이 원격 학습으로 제공 되는 학교로 전학도 가능하며, 가상 학습 아카데미에 다닐수도 있습니다. 가상 학습 아카데미에 관심을 표명하신 분들은 지원 신청 과정에 관한 정보를 받았습니다.
교육구는 직장에 나가는 학부모 가족을 위하여 종일 돌봄을 제공하는 보이즈 앤 걸즈 클럽의 종일반과 반나절 반을 지속적으로 확장할 것이고 보이즈 앤 걸즈 클럽의 지원으로 학생이 종일 돌봄에 원격 학습의 참여를 허용합니다. 최근에 보이즈 앤 걸즈 클럽은 다음주에 부가적으로 8곳이 첨가되어 12개 지역에서 프로그램이 제공됩니다.
