GGUSD to Host Workshop on Securing Financial Assistance for College

On Thursday, January 16, Garden Grove High School will host “Cash for College,” a free workshop for high school seniors on securing financial aid for higher education. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with presentations starting at 6 p.m. in the school library, G1 computer lab and Room E6. Garden Grove High School is located at 11271 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.
Students who attend Cash for College will receive personal assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other documents necessary when applying for college financial assistance, including Cal Grants. Attendees should bring all financial aid documents plus personal information for completing the FAFSA form including driver’s license, social security card or number, alien registration number for non-citizens, 2013 income information, personal and parent tax information, 2013 bank statements, records of untaxed incomes, and a list of preferred colleges and universities.
Presentations will be given in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean. High school seniors who attend and apply for a Cal Grant before the March 2 deadline could qualify for an extra $1,000 scholarship.
