Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is proud to announce the launch of its third Early College Academy (ECA) at Bolsa Grande High School, providing students with a powerful head start on their college education. Recruitment for the inaugural cohort of incoming freshmen will begin in January 2026, and the program will officially open for the 2026-2027 school year.

In partnership with Golden West College, the Bolsa Grande ECA will allow students to take college-level courses during the regular school day at no cost. Students enrolled in the program have the opportunity to earn up to 60 transferable college credits and potentially graduate high school with an Associate’s Degree—saving families thousands of dollars in college tuition. The program includes embedded supports from the high school and college to ensure student success.

“The Early College Academy model continues to be a game-changer for our students and families,” said Board of Education President Lan Nguyen. “Not only does it remove financial barriers to college, but it also prepares students for the rigors of higher education and sets them up for lifelong success.”

This new program builds upon the district’s growing success with its existing Early College Academies at Santiago High School, launched in partnership with Santa Ana College, and Los Amigos High School, also in partnership with Golden West College.  Santiago’s ECA has served 378 students with the Class of 2025 earning more than 1,100 transferrable college credits and the Los Amigos ECA has served 438 students with the Class of 2025 earning more than 3,400 transferrable credits and 53 students graduating high school with their Associate of Arts degree.

The application process will begin in January with recruitment efforts focused on eighth grade students from feeder intermediate schools.
